Gang member sentenced to life

Another member a violent street gang that once operated in Portsmouth and Suffolk has been sentenced for his role in two murders.

Jamyia Rashad Brothers, 24, of Portsmouth, was sentenced in Norfolk federal court Monday to life in prison for the murders of two brothers during a home invasion robbery in Portsmouth.

He pleaded guilty to the charges on Sept. 16.

According to court documents, Brothers and another member of the Bounty Hunter Bloods/Nine Tech Gangsters gang executed a home invasion on Dec. 15, 2007. During the robbery, Brothers shot and killed both John and Ronald Trollinger. John Trollinger was shot in the chest and the back of the head, and Ronald Trollinger was shot in the chest.

Brothers also shot a third individual who played dead and was able to survive his winds. Two other people in the residence were able to escape out the back door without any injuries.

After the shootings, Brothers and the other gang member fled the scene.
