Melvin Lee Roberson Sr., 80, passed away Jan. 11, 2012.

Born in Bertie County, N.C., he was the son of the late Sally and James H. Roberson. He was formerly a sergeant with the Suffolk Police Department and retired as a manager for Sentry Mart. Mr. Roberson was also a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Anna Wilson Roberson; son, Melvin L. Roberson Jr., of Winton, N.C.; two grandchildren; sister, Katie Brennen, of Clinton, Ill.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at 11 a.m. in the Suffolk Pentecostal Holiness Church, 100 Kilby Shores Drive, Suffolk, by the Rev. Don Milner. Burial will follow at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, 509 W.
