The son of Bessie and Frank Dunn of Craven County, N.C., Larry W. Dunn departed the constraints of this earth and his long-term struggle with illness on Jan. 17, 2012. He was 71 years old. Born on July 21, 1940, Larry was a native of North Carolina, and resided in Norfolk, Va., at the time of his death.

Utilizing his entrepreneurial spirit and quest for knowledge, Larry served with the USAF in Panama City, Fla., as a radio operator until 1961. He held a Master Electrician’s license and a real estate license. Larry enjoyed a successful, lifetime career as an operations manager with various companies such as G.E., Giant Cement, Paradise Point Marina and the Aluminum Company Of America (ALCOA) where he retired.

Memorial services will be held in New Bern, N.C., on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012. Larry is survived by his wife, one brother, three sons, three daughters and nine grandchildren.

When his current employer was notified of his passing, he said, “He will be missed. Larry was a great man and a great friend,” sentiments shared by anyone who knew him. Forever and a day …
