Chesapeake police seek Suffolk man in connection with shooting

Chesapeake police are searching for a Suffolk resident who drives a recognizable vehicle.

Police have charged Delando Smallwood, 32, of the 100 block of Greenfield Crescent, with malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. He is also known as “DJ Total Wreck,” according to a news release from the Chesapeake Police Department, and drives a van with “DJ Total Wreck” and other graphics written on it.

Police say Smallwood was involved in a shooting in the 4700 block of West Military Highway in Chesapeake around 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

According to Chesapeake police, the victim and the suspect engaged in a verbal argument that turned physical. The suspect shot the victim during the altercation and then fled on foot. The victim was treated and released at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.
