Fires damage two homes

Two Suffolk families have been temporarily displaced and were assisted by the Suffolk chapter of the American Red Cross in the past couple of days following fires in their homes.
Suffolk firefighters were dispatched to a house fire in the 2800 block of South Nansemond Drive at 11:09 p.m. Wednesday. They found a fire in the attic of the home and brought it under control in about 20 minutes.
Three adults and one child were safely evacuated.
Firefighters responded on Thursday at 3:25 p.m. to a fire at a home in the 300 block of Katherine Street. The fire was confined to a bathroom in the residence and resulted in about $5,000 in damage.
Two adults and one child were safely evacuated from the home.
