Two Suffolk teenagers may be facing up to 13 felonies after police say they threw rocks at cars traveling on Wilroy Road this weekend.
Motorists began calling police just before 6:30 p.m. on Friday to report someone had thrown rocks at their vehicles as they drove on Wilroy Road.
The incidents continued until about 9:15 p.m. and began again on Saturday about 1:30 p.m.
The last one occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, when police in the area investigating the incidents saw a vehicle hit its brakes as if something had had happened, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
Police officers immediately went to search the railroad tracks that run parallel to the road and encountered the two juveniles, she said. They apprehended one, but the other got away and was tracked down later.
No one was injured during the incidents, but at least one windshield was smashed by the projectile, according to police reports.
“Someone could have gotten seriously injured,” George said. “Because these were occupied vehicles, each one is a felony in and of itself.”
She said officers were still making contact with some of the victims on Monday.
