Herbert N. Cross, 91, of 619 Kilby Ave., Suffolk, Va., died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at his residence. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Carroll Cross and Clara Bremby. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Cornetta Edwards Cross.

He retired as a butcher from Suffolk Packing Company after more than 65 years.

He leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Marion Parker (Alvin) and Joan Haskins (Roy), both of Suffolk; three sons, Rudolph Cross and Edward Cross, both of Suffolk, and Nathaniel Cross (Wanda), of Newport News, Va.; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church, 112 Mahan St., Suffolk, officiated by Suffragan Bishop Madison G. Copeland.
