NSA boys advance

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s boys’ basketball team will head to Norfolk Academy Monday for a 5 p.m. game in the second round of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools’ playoffs, following the Saints’ victory in the first round on Friday.

NSA beat visiting Peninsula Catholic 53-39 to move on to the next level of tournament competition.

Jared Morse led the Saints in scoring, with 15 points, and he contributed seven rebounds, one blocked shot and a steal to the effort. Morgan Wentz and Breon Willie added eight points and three rebounds each. John Mobley had seven points for the Saints and hauled in 10 rebounds.

The win was the Saints’ second this season over Peninsula Catholic, the only conference team NSA’s boys beat this year. They lost to Norfolk Academy 59-46 earlier this month.
