Ruth Branch-Simmons

Ruth Branch-Simmons, 86, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Sentara Obici Hospital. She was born on Nov. 30, 1925, in Portsmouth, Va., to the late John Whitaker and Elizabeth Branch.
Ruth retired from Planters Peanut Company after 47 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Local 26 Union for 69 years and was a member of First Baptist Church Mahan Street until her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Simmons.
Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory, a son, Robert L. Branch (Julia May); a granddaughter, Shy-Kim Branch; two grandsons, Kelly D. Branch and Key Juan Branch; and many family and friends.
Ms. Simmons’ visitation will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, March 4 between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. A funeral will take place at the funeral home chapel on Monday, March 5 at noon. She will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
