Evelyn A. Perry

Evelyn A. Perry, daughter of the late Rev. Walter and Agnes B. Perry, died at her home in Virginia Beach.
Born in Suffolk, she graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1965 and later received her bachelor’s degree from Virginia Wesleyan University.
She worked at the Department of Social Services in Norfolk for 26years. From 2003 until her death, she was a supervisor at the Human Resource Center in Portsmouth.
She was a member of the National Council of Negro Women, served as recording secretary of the Norfolk Branch NAACP, and was a member of Epsilon Theta Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
Evelyn is survived by a sister, Dr. Ruth A. Perry; a niece, Pamela D. Perry; a nephew, W. Christopher Perry; a very close friend and traveling companion, Hattie McFarland; great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral will be held Monday, March 12, 2012, at noon, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, County Street, Suffolk, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Hobbs and the Reverend Alan Ray Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery, Suffolk.
