Todd makes dean’s list
Birmingham-Southern College recently announced that Suffolk resident Joshua Todd has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 term.
To be considered for the Dean’s List, a student must have been enrolled full-time, received a letter grade for each of the courses in which he or she was enrolled and earned at least a 3.5 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Chowan University inducts members to honor society
The Chowan University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society for first-year college students, held its official induction ceremony in Vaughan Auditorium on March 4 to recognize a large class of 38 new members.
Jennifer Humphrey, a freshman social studies education major from Suffolk, was among the inductees.
Alpha Lambda Delta was founded in 1924 at the University of Illinois to encourage superior academic achievement, to promote intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning and to assist students in recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society. Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta is open to full-time freshman students who earn a scholastic average of 3.5 or better at a four-year college or university.
Chowan University, a Christian liberal arts university founded in 1848, is located in Murfreesboro, N.C.
Local students named to Roanoke dean’s list
Roanoke College announced this week that a Windsor student has been named to the dean’s list for the fall 2011 semester.
Heather Marie Woody, daughter of George and Pamela Woody, was given the honor.
A student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5, with no grade
lower than a “C,” to be placed on the dean’s list.
