Suffolk police got a surprise recently when an officer responded to a possible burglary Wednesday and found an entirely different crime allegedly going on.
Allegedly inside the vacant residence was 20-year-old Kendrell Lee Barnes. A city spokeswoman said Barnes was having “consensual sexual activity” with a 13-year-old girl.
“There is no indication that there were any incidents other than the one for which the suspect was charged,” city spokeswoman Debbie George said.
The two allegedly were coming downstairs when police entered the residence, George added.
Barnes has been charged with carnal knowledge of a child, taking indecent liberties with a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
