Police are investigating the theft of railroad ties from a railroad job site on Kenyon Road.
The steel railroad ties were sold to Suffolk Recycling for scrap on March 9, according to city spokeswoman Debbie George.
They were later identified as belonging to CSX Railroad and having been stolen from a job site in the 300 block of Kenyon Road.
Police have a suspect, George said, but the incident still is under investigation.
