The National Weather Service canceled a severe thunderstorm warning early on Tuesday evening after the storm that prompted the warning weakened.

The warning had included the extreme southwestern portion of Suffolk.

The storm was capable of producing quarter-size hail and winds in excess of 60 miles per hour, according to the alert. The warning had been set to expire at 6:30 p.m.
