The Suffolk Humane Society and Suffolk Animal Control are sponsoring three “adopt-a-thons” during April to help find homes for puppies and kittens without one.
April is the peak time of year for dogs and cats having litters, and a multitude of cute new pets will be available for adoption at Chesapeake Square and North Suffolk PetSmart stores, according Lee Murphy, adoptions and foster coordinator for Suffolk Humane.
“It’s puppy and kitten season, and that means there will be so many seeking loving homes,“ Murphy said in a press release. “Of course, there are already many deserving dogs and cats who are waiting to find forever homes, too.”
The first two adopt-a-thons will be on April 14 and 15 at the Chesapeake Square PetSmart, 4300 Portsmouth Blvd., Chesapeake.
The third is on April 22 at the North Suffolk PetSmart, 6243 College Drive, Suffolk. All events will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“It’s is a great time to add a pet to your family,” Debie Jefts, shelter manager for Suffolk Animal Control, said in the press release.
“We have so many wonderful animals who have so much love to give. We hope people will come to these events, meet them, and maybe find the right match for them.”
