Police have identified the body found at an Eclipse playground Tuesday afternoon but are awaiting family notification before releasing the identification, a city spokeswoman said Wednesday.
She also said that no cause of death has been determined for the 22-year-old male body that was found in a playground at the Nansemond Swim Club in Eclipse on Tuesday, but that police do not suspect foul play.
According to a police department incident report released Thursday, the swim club property manager found the body in the area of a children’s swing and slide set during a walk-through of the property.
The manager found what appeared to be a human skull on the ground and a torso with extremities on the slide platform, the report states. Police were called at 12:37 p.m. and later determined the remains were human.
The remains have been sent to the medical examiner for investigation.
