Lady Saints drop Nandua

Nansemond Suffolk Academy’s softball team (10-1, 2-0) continued their excellent season on Tuesday, beating Nandua High School, 9-5.

The Lady Saints gave up two runs in the first inning, but responded with six runs in the bottom half of the first, leading 6-2 after one inning.

After the Lady Warriors cut the lead, 6-4, in the third inning, NSA again responded in the bottom half of the fourth inning with three runs of their own to go up 9-4.

Brooklyn Carr went 1 for 3 with three RBI’s in the game. Morgan Daughtry and Kaitlyn McCracken also recorded two RBIs apiece.

Daughtry was on the mound for NSA. She went a complete seven innings, with 14 strikeouts. She allowed six hits and four runs on 128 pitches.

The Lady Saints are ranked fourth in the Division I state rankings.

They next travel to take on Bishop Sullivan Catholic on April 17.
