Five people were displaced from their homes late Saturday night when a fire broke out in a townhouse unit, causing damage to two additional units.
Suffolk Fire and Rescue responded to the blaze in the 100 block of Squire Reach just after 10 p.m. Fire crews found heavy fire in the rear of one of the units and began attacking the fire from the back, eventually sending fire crews inside to the second floor and attic.
The adjacent units were evacuated by fire and police on scene, and no injuries were reported. The fire was brought under control in about 30 minutes.

There was no major damage to the adjacent units, but two of them suffered exterior damage from the heat.
The Suffolk chapter of the American Red Cross assisted those in need. Damage is estimated at $65,000, and the cause of the fire is under investigation by the Suffolk Fire Marshal’s Office.
