Katie Devenuto, a Lakeland High School alumna and a member of the Mount Olive College softball team, was among a group of student athletes honored by the college for academic excellence on National Student-Athlete Day. Awards were presented for individual and team honors.

Devenuto was honored as the scholar-athlete from the softball team. Each team’s scholar-athlete has a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average and is either a starter or key reserve.

“It would be easy to say, ‘Congratulations,’ but I believe ‘Thank You’ would be more appropriate,” Mount Olive College President Philip P. Kerstetter said to the student-athletes. “Thank you for your hard work both on and off the field.”
