Floris Jordan Brown was called to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, April 21, 2012. She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Elisa Jordan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Brown; two sons, Dr. Thomas J. Brown Sr. and Lafayette Brown Sr.

She was a faithful and dedicated member of Little Bethel Baptist Church until her health failed. She was organist for several churches.

She was survived by one son, Glenn Brown (Brenda); one daughter, Gloristine Brown-Tatum (Tate); seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law, Annette Brown-Boyce and Stella D. Brown; two brothers-in-law, Herbert L. Brown and James Howard Brown (Odell); a devoted caretaker, Marie Porter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 26, 2012, at Little Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bernard Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery.
