To the editor:

I wish I had more time to express my concern for our nation’s future and outlook of our global environment. But I want to at least express my support for the steps that President Barack Obama has taken to protect our environment and achieve some balance between fossil fuels and renewable energy.

I also want to ask you and your paper to stress the importance of gradually moving away from fossil fuels whenever possible. I recognize this is not an instant process, but one that will take many years.

However, we must also recognize this process will not come freely. This will take sacrifice and additional costs. But it is absolutely necessary to protect the world we have for our children and future generations.
