Senior hurler Taylor Gomer pitched a no-hitter as Isle of Wight Academy shut out Alliance Christian 6-0 on Thursday. Gomer faced 25 Falcons batters, walked two and struck out 15 in running his record to 4-2.

Alliance Christian’s best threat came in the fourth inning. Their starter and eventual losing pitcher, Drew Ridnouer, walked to lead off the inning and advanced to second on a throwing error by Gomer. He stole third, but was stranded as Gomer struck out the next three batters.

The Chargers, on the other hand, jumped on Ridnouer early. They sent all nine batters to the plate in the second inning, the biggest blow being a two-run double by ninth-place hitter Evan Chappell with one out. Gomer’s classmate finished 2-for-3 and scored a run. Gomer helped his cause by going 2-for-3 and scoring a run. Matthew Herrmann was 2-for-4, scoring once, and Michael McGuire was 2-for-4 with an RBI.
