Stevie Donald Artis, 48, of the 400 block of Carolina Road, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, April 25, 2012. He was born on Feb. 1, 1964, to the late James T. Artis and Mable E. Knight in Suffolk, Va.

A native of Suffolk, he graduated from Suffolk High School and served in the United States Marine Corps.

Stevie leaves behind his beloved wife, Karen Artis; daughter, Jelisia Artis; four sisters, Mildred Artis, Vivian Bagley, Amie Artis and Barbara Barnes (Lindell); seven brothers, Leon Artis (Joy), James Artis, Cary Artis, Tobbie Artis, Eric Artis, Deon Artis and Raymond Copeland, of Suffolk; and many other family and friends.

Mr. Artis will be on view at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday, April 29, from 1 to 7 p.m. A celebration of life service will take place at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries Church on Monday, April 30 at noon.
