Ian was born in Idaho Falls, Idaho, but moved to Smithfield when he was two weeks old.  He was an active senior at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy, where he was on the soccer team, swim team, sailing team and the tennis team and a beloved member of the class of 2012. He had planned to attend James Madison University in the fall, after which he hoped to further his education at medical school. Ian was a vivacious, jubilant, life-loving young man who provided a smile and a laugh for anyone who crossed his path. In addition to this, he was able to give the lasting gift of sight by the donation of his beautiful blue eyes to Life Net Health.

A service celebrating Ian’s life will be held at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at 2 p.m. A celebration of life reception will be held immediately following at Gatling Pointe Yacht Club.
