Catherine “Plu-Lu” Ross, 75, of the 1200 block of Sierra Drive, retired from life Tuesday, May 1, 2012, in Sentara Obici Hospital, to live eternally with the angels in Heaven.

She was the daughter of the late Helen Dempsy Briggs and Herman Powell Sr.

She was a native of Suffolk. She attended Booker T. Washington High School. She was the wife of the late L.W. Ross.

Catherine leaves to mourn her death and cherish her life three daughters, Patricia Briggs, Brenda Lassiter (Alton) and Jane “Tutti” Briggs; four sons, Micheal Ross, Lonnie Ross (Faye), Richard Lee Ross and Kevin Jones; two sisters, Alberta Jackson and Erlene Weston (Leonard); 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many family and friends.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012, from noon to 7 p.m., and the family will greet visitors from 5 to 7 p.m. at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. A homegoing service will take place on Monday, May 7, 2012, at noon at Oak Grove Baptist Church, and she will be laid to rest at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
