A Suffolk man pleaded not guilty Thursday on charges stemming from a fatal wreck in March 2011.
William Byrum Davis, 27, entered the pleas to charges of aggravated involuntary manslaughter, assault by maiming while driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated.
The crash occurred in the 400 block of Glen Haven Drive about 1:41 a.m. March 6. Glen Haven Drive is in the Holland area. Hollyann Heinrich, 23, of Waverly, died after being ejected from the white 2005 Chevrolet pickup. Other occupants of the vehicle, Davis and Dustin Bishop, who was 23 at the time, were injured.
According to a search warrant filed in the case, Davis initially admitted to being the driver but then recanted and said he did not know who was driving.
A beer bottle and a liquor bottle were found in the wreckage of the truck, in addition to several beer bottles strewn across the yard where the truck landed, according to the search warrant.
He was indicted by a grand jury in January. A trial is set for Sept. 26-27.
