Penny the horse is headed to a new home in Zuni after a social media campaign to find greener pastures for her.

Shortly after a social media campaign launched to help find a local horse a new home, Penny is living comfortably in Zuni.

Penny was seized by Suffolk animal control officers last fall for being severely underweight. Estimated to be 18 to 20 years old, the quarter horse was in a foster home, whence she launched her social media campaign.

Since her Facebook page started on April 4, Penny garnered 89 likes and many requests from local horse owners who wanted to take her home.

In the end, two sisters adopted her as a pasture mate to their horse Earl, according to her Facebook page, www.facebook.com/pennyneedsahome.

According to a press release selling her qualities, Penny has good manners and enjoyed being sprayed with a water hose. She was eating too quickly because of her past neglect, a veterinarian said in the press release.

Now that Penny is moving on to her new home, it is not yet known if she will have time for posting updates for her Facebook fans.
