George Leroy Edwards

G. Leroy Edwards, 84, passed away May 3, 2012, at Lake Prince Woods in Suffolk, Va.  He was predeceased by his parents, Mable Herndon and Charles T. Edwards. He was retired from Obici Hospital as the chief financial officer. Mr. Edwards was a member of the Suffolk Rotary Club and Main Street United Methodist Church, as well as being a very active community person who took many leadership roles.

Mr. Edwards is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelin F. Edwards, of Suffolk; daughter, Robin Williamson, of Colonial Heights, Va.; stepdaughters, Anne E. Bevan and husband, Chris, of Mechanicsville, Va., Susan Folk and Phil LaRose, of Suffolk; Cathy Hall, of Aylette, Va., and Susan Moore, of Richmond, Va.; grandchildren Heather Williamson, Michael Williamson, Cherie Carlson and husband Nick, Angela Mason, William Mason III, Carrie Hall, Duncan Bevan; Thomas Bevan, Cary Bevan and Phillip LaRose; great-grandchildren Kiara Williamson and Jayden Williamson.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2012, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Myrtle F. Hatcher and the Rev. Dr. Woodie Rea at Main Street United Methodist Church, 202 N. Main St., Suffolk, Va., with visitation following the service. R.W. Baker & Co.  Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434 is serving the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the UCHS Benevolent Fund at Lake Prince Woods, 100 Anna Goode Way, Suffolk, VA 23434, Main Street UMC, 202 N.
