Suffolk police are investigating a fight reported on Saturday evening.

Officers were dispatched just after 7 p.m. to a fight in progress in the 300 block of St. James Avenue.

When officers arrived, the suspects and victim had dispersed. The victim later arrived at police headquarters and reported that he was assaulted by several people, some of whom he knew, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

The victim’s injuries are not considered life-threatening, George said. The case still is under investigation.
