Suffolk Fire and Rescue extinguished a fire on the roof of a business in the 1300 block of Progress Road on Wednesday morning, saving the structure from damage.
When they arrived on the scene at 7:48 a.m., firefighters discovered a fire in a large hopper located on the roof of the business, according to a press release from city officials.
Work crews had been on site, cutting the hopper away from the structure in order to remove it from the roof, and initial reports indicate that heat from a cutting torch may have ignited paper inside the hopper.
