Police find 100 marijuana plants in raid

The Suffolk Police Department found more than 100 marijuana plants, an alcohol still and four firearms when it raided a property in the 400 block of Vicksburg Road on Thursday, according to a news release from the city.
The department’s Special Investigation Unit and Neighborhood Enforcement team executed the search warrant and allegedly discovered the plants, capable of producing more than 100 pounds of marijuana at full maturity, according to the news release. Also discovered was an alcohol still that was in production, which is being investigated by the Virginia Alcohol Beverage Control Department of Law Enforcement, as well as four firearms and related ammunition.
Three people were charged after the raid. Leslie Vanhoose, 59, and Johnathan Brown, 24, each are charged with manufacturing marijuana and conspiracy. Justin Carr, 24, is charged with manufacturing marijuana, conspiracy and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Investigator Jake Lyons is the lead investigator on the case.
