Suffolk police subdued an assault suspect who was found walking naked down Whaleyville Boulevard on Monday evening, a city spokeswoman said.

The assault occurred about 6 p.m., city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The mentally challenged individual was traveling in a van back to a group home when he became agitated and assaulted two staff members, knocking one into a ditch, George said. The man removed his clothes and was walking down Whaleyville Boulevard when found by police, she added.

Police deployed a Taser to subdue the man, George confirmed. He currently is being evaluated.

The injuries were not serious, George added. Both subjects of the assault have declined to prosecute.
