NSA golfers advance

Nansemond-Suffolk Academy’s golf team advanced to the second round of the Tidewater Conference of Independent Schools’ tournament on the strength of a third-place finish on Monday at Bide-a-wee Golf Course in Portsmouth.

Cape Henry and Greenbrier placed first and second, respectively, to qualify for the other two spots in Wednesday’s matchup.

Cape Henry set the pace on Monday, shooting a 284, compared to Greenbrier’s 299 and NSA’s 303.

The Saints were led by Keith Cooper, who shot an even-par 72. Stuart Brazil shot 75, Trey Wren 77 and Thomas Meyers 79 to complete the Saints’ scoring.
