The National Weather Service has warned of strong thunderstorms moving through the area.

The storm could bring wind gusts of 30 to 40 miles per hour, frequent cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy rainfall.

Ponding of water on roadways is likely, with flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas possible. The northern portion of the city was under a flood advisory.

Scattered thunderstorms are expected to continue through early tonight.
