Randolph Hudgins Sr.

Randolph Hudgins Sr., 66, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012, in Richmond at McGuire Veterans Hospital. He was born on Feb. 8, 1946, to the late Peter and Mollie Hudgins.
Randolph is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Audrey D. Hudgins; daughters, Monica Black (Harvey), Tanya Scott; son, Randolph “Randy” Hudgins Jr.; adopted children, Yulonda Cheeks, Aisha Perry (Anthony) and Robert Hudgins; grandchildren, Tiana, Brandon and Trivon; one great-grandchild and “His Baby,” Jordan Deloatch; one sister, Jeanette Wooden; one brother, Peter Hudgins Jr.; brothers-in-law, William Goodman, Herbert Tenzy Cheeks Jr. (Eva Jean), Lennon Bryant (Gerald), Tony Majette (Myrenia) and Lawrence Larson (Debora); and many caring nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved dearly.
Randolph was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Hudgins, and two sisters, Dorothy Ruffin and Evelyn Goodman.
Randolph graduated from Booker T. Washington High School and played on the basketball team. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He then moved to New Jersey, where he worked as an Electrician Icc. Inspector for New Jersey Transit for 14 years.
We all will truly miss his smile and kindness that he showed to all of us. He will be embedded in our hearts forever.
Mr. Hutchins’ visitation will take place from noon to 6 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 5 to 6 p.m., at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc. on Sunday. A funeral will take place at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 11 a.m., and he will be laid to rest with military honors at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery immediately following.
