Suffolk motorists can expect a few areas of flooded roads tonight and Tuesday because of an unusually high tide.
The National Weather Service in Wakefield issued a coastal flood statement along the west side of the Chesapeake Bay because of a full moon and onshore winds, according to a statement from a city spokeswoman.
An elevated level of about one to two feet above the normal high tide is expected during high tide this evening just after 10 p.m. Minor flooding in low-lying areas along the Nansemond River is expected between 7 p.m. and midnight.
The two outside lanes of the 700 block of North Main Street, in the area of the Kimberly Bridge, will flood, according to the statement.
Similar flood levels can be expected during Tuesday evening’s high-tide cycle.
