At the NCAA East Preliminary Round last weekend in Jacksonville, Keith Ricks of Suffolk, running for Virginia Tech, qualified in three events for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship.

He qualified as an individual in the 100 meters and 200 meters and also anchored the 4×100 meter relay team for a spot at the national championship.

He re-set his own school record in the 200 meters twice in as many days, running a time of 20.46 in the first round Friday, before coming back to run 20.45 in Saturday’s quarterfinals.

Ricks is the lone Hokie to qualify in multiple individual events for the NCAA Championship this year.
