Rotary awards scholarships

The Suffolk Rotary Club annually awards eight Suffolk high school students a $1,000 scholarship to honor their community service work throughout high school. A male and a female student from King’s Fork High School, Lakeland High School, Nansemond River High School and Nansemond-Suffolk Academy were selected.

The Suffolk Rotary Community Service Scholarship was awarded to the following students:

  • Anthony Torres, who will attend Old Dominion University
  • Brionna Hunter, who will attend Howard University
  • Sarah Peelen, who will attend the University of Virginia
  • Erin Odango, who will attend Virginia Commonwealth University
  • Michael Stephenson, who will attend George Mason University
  • Aakash Shah, who will attend the University of Virginia
  • Jourdan Simpson, who will attend the University of South Carolina
  • Danielle Kerr, who will attend the University of Kansas
