About 45 homes could be without landline phone service until late Saturday after a contractor damaged an unmarked phone line.

The contractor was working on the Nansemond Parkway/Shoulders Hill Road intersection improvements, according to a press release from the city.

Verizon representatives say residents of Count Crescent, Round Table Arch and Page Place can expected to be without phone service until late Saturday because of the extent of the damages.
