A woman bit her would-be rapist in an effort to get away from him on Sunday, according to a police report.
Police are seeking a suspect in the attempted rape.
The incident occurred between 9 and 10 p.m. in the 300 block of Market Street, city spokeswoman Debbie George said. The woman was walking home from work when she was approached by a man on a bicycle.
He engaged her in conversation, and his side of it soon turned sexual, according to a police report. She told him she wasn’t going to talk to him about that, according to the report.
The suspect then tried to pull the woman onto a driveway along the road, George said.
“He tried to drag her further into the darkness,” she said.
That’s when the woman bit the suspect’s hand, and he let her go. She then ran home, according to the report.
The suspect is described as a black male in his 40s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 120-135 pounds, with a dark complexion and short hair, and perhaps a pencil-thin moustache.
