A body was found in Lake Kilby on Tuesday morning after the man’s family reported him missing.

Maurice Milteer, 64, of Truman Road, was found dead in the water, city spokeswoman Debbie George said.

“There’s nothing at this point to indicate foul play,” she added.

The man’s vehicle had been towed from the Lake Kilby Pumping Station, near the boat ramp, on Monday night by the city of Portsmouth, which owns the property.

When officials tried to contact the registered owner, the family reported him missing, George said. Officials returned to the area and discovered his body in the water.

The body was being taken for an autopsy on Tuesday.
