Maurice Milteer

Maurice Milteer, “aka Crabman,” 64, of 908 Truman Road, Suffolk, Va., died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, in Suffolk. He was a native of Suffolk and the son of the late Felton Milteer Sr. and Edith Wright Milteer.

He was a graduate of East Suffolk High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree in history from St. Paul’s College. He was previously employed with Smithfield Packing Company as the employment manager. He was owner of Try Me Amusement and was a school security monitor at Lakeland High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church Mahan Street and was a member of the Brotherhood Ministry. He was also a member of the St. Paul’s College Alumni Association. He was a generous financial contributor to St. Paul’s College, generous provider of snacks to First Baptist Mahan and other charitable organizations, and a generous provider of snack packs to college students.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Betty Milteer; two daughters, Samantha Milteer, of Colonial Heights, Va., and Shantia Milteer Hardy (Victor Sr.), of Newport News, Va.;  two brothers, Felton Milteer Jr., of Suffolk, and Andre Milteer (Barbara), of San Antonio, Texas; one grandson, Victor Hardy Jr.; mother-in-law, Catherine Joe, of Suffolk; godchildren, Brandon Holland and Alisha Barnes, both of Suffolk; and a host of other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2012, at First Baptist Church Mahan Street officiated by the Rev. Dr. Steven G. Blunt. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
