Police charge two with possession of heroin

Suffolk police have charged two suspects with drug charges after an officer spotted bundles of suspected heroin during a traffic stop.
Carl Saunders, 56, and his son Adam Saunders, 27, each are charged with possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute while also possessing a firearm, and conspiracy to commit distribution of heroin. Adam Saunders also was charged with possession of marijuana.
According to a news release, the vehicle the two were traveling in was pulled over on Monday by the Suffolk Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit. During the stop, the investigators noticed the two bundles of suspected heroin, according to the release.
Investigators executed a search warrant of the subjects’ residence in the 100 block of Whaley Street. Two vehicles also were seized as a result of the investigation.
