Suffolk youth card top scores

Suffolk’s Amellia Boyer finished at the top of the field among the girls participating in a one-day VSGA junior golf tournament at Sleepy Hole Golf Course on Monday.

Boyer had the low round among all of the girls participating and won the 17-year-old division with her score of 81.

Amellia Boyer carded the lowest score of any of the participants in the girls youth golf tournament held by VSGA on Monday at Sleepy Hole Golf Course.

Trey Wren of Suffolk shot a 76 to win the boys’16-year-old division, and Suffolk’s Keith Cooper won the 15-year-old boys’ division with a score of 73, carding the second best score of the day behind 17-year-old Weston Ringer of Chesapeake.

The event was open to boys and girls from 12 to 18 who hold Virginia State Golf Association Junior Golf Club memberships.

Other local participants in the event included the following: Suffolk’s Griffin Saylor, who placed seventh among boys 16 to 18 years old with a score of 84; Suffolk’s William Comer, who placed fourth among boys 12-15 years old with a score of 83; and Carrollton’s Philip Nelson, whose 92 earned him eighth place among 12-15-year-old boys.
