Boyer competes in Richmond golf tourney

Suffolk’s Amellia Boyer will tee off with the third group of players on Wednesday in the final round of the 43rd Virginia State Golf Association Junior Girls’ Championship at the Richmond Country Club.
Boyer carded a 44-46—90 in the first round on the par-72, 5,659-yard course. She is participating in the 16- to 18-year-olds division and was in 23rd place, 17 strokes behind the leader, after the first day of play.
She was set to tee off from the first hole at 8:27 a.m. today, having been matched up with Jessica Hart of Roanoke (43-46—89) and Amy Southall of King George (46-45—91).
Amanda Hollandsworth of Floyd leads the age division with a 38-35—73.
