George Washington Thompson

George Washington Thompson, affectionately known as “Rico,” 72, was born on March 12, 1940, to the late John David Thompson and Catherine Whitfield Thompson in Lewiston, N.C.
He joined New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries Church under the leadership of Bishop W.P. Wiggins.
George’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of his beloved family and friends. He leaves behind four sisters, Hester A. Knight (James), Annie M. Wiggins, Shirley M. Montgomery and Barbara J. Bray; four brothers, Leroy Thompson (Cynthia), William Thompson (Barbara), John L. Thompson and Allen J. Thompson; two aunts, Carry Cousin and Ruby Watson; an uncle, Linwood Smallwood (Lottie); and family and friends.
Mr. Thompson’s visitation will take place at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home Inc. between the hours of 1 and 7 p.m. on Monday. A home going service will take place at the chapel at noon on Tuesday, and he will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke-Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
