An open house will be hosted Friday at 204 Bank St. ahead of the auction of the house and contents, set for Sept. 7.

The open house begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

The luxurious home was built by lumber magnate George W. Truitt in 1909. It is full of antique furniture, Hepplewhite and Chippendale originals, fine china and crystal, original light fixtures and glass doorknobs, armies of dolls, original artwork, hundreds of knickknacks and scores of old books.
