Apprentice School junior golfer Ben Hunter was named on Wednesday as the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending Sept. 2.
Hunter, a rigger apprentice from Suffolk, broke the school record for lowest round in a match with a 67 as the Builders scored a 300-311 dual match win over Louisburg College on Aug. 29 at Sleepy Hole Golf Course in Suffolk.
The record, shared by current assistant coach B.J. Maben, was broken on the 18th hole, where Hunter holed a chip from about 30 feet out to end with the 67.
Apprentice School will now participate in the Shenandoah Invitational on Sept. 9-10 at Winchester Country Club.
