SUFFOLK — Deloris “Bookie” Marshall, 72, of the 4200 block of Pughsville Road, was called home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She retired after 25-plus years of service from Chesapeake Public Schools. Deloris was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. During her time there, she served in the Missionary Choir and as an usher; she was also a member of the Busy Bee Senior Club.

Deloris leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Vanessa Marshall and Carlene Wilson (Charles); a son, Karl Marshall (Gwen); two sisters, Fannie Wiggins and Louella Deans; and three brothers, Robert M. Marshall Sr. (Karen), Willie Marshall (Molly), and Welton Marshall (Wendy). Also left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Eric, Kiera, KJ and Kieaundra; a god-daughter, Yolanda Buie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A viewing will be held on Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at J.T. Fisher Funeral Services, 1248 N. George Washington Highway, Chesapeake, Va. A life celebration service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at New Hope Baptist Church (Pughsville), 4260 Pughsville Road, Suffolk, with Dr. William E. Russell officiating. Entombment will take place in Carver Memorial Cemetery, 2320 E. Washington St., Suffolk, VA 23434. The family has entrusted J.T. Fisher Funeral Services to handle the final care arrangements.
