Strong thunderstorms moving across the area are expected to bring heavy rain and wind, according to a statement from the National Weather Service.

Hazards from the storm include wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour, an “excessive amount of deadly cloud to ground lightning” and heavy rainfall. Minor flooding is expected in low-lying areas, including ditches, creeks, roadways and areas of poor drainage.

Motorists should reduce driving speeds to avoid hydroplaning and should not cross flooded roads.
